November 15, 2000 - #2
The rapper Chi Ali best known for his 1992 hit single "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" was recently featured on an episode of Fox TV's America's Most Wanted. On February 14, 2000, he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend's brother Sean Raymond over three hundred dollars and a collection of music cd's. Apparently, Raymond was in debt to Chi Ali for three hundered dollars and when he failed to pay it back, that's when Ali decided to take Raymond's cd collection. After confronting Ali on the phone, Ali along with another man later approached Raymond who was hanging out with friends at a convenience store in the Bronx and attacked him. The altercation ended with Ali shooting Raymond five times with a handgun. In May of 2000, the police almost caught up with Chi Ali down in Atlanta, Georgia but just missed by him by only ten minutes. It's definitely sad to see an MC like Chi Ali who at one time had a promising career fall so far down.
Tired of hearing all the crap being played on your local commercial Hip-Hop/R&B station? Looking for stations that play nothing but underground hip-hop? Well, look no further. I recently found this web site called The Pipeline Network which features a collection of hip-hop radio shows from around the world. I highly recommend checking out shows like The Real Frequency, The Last Crate, & especially Rap Attack Flashback which is hosted by the crazy pinoy himself, Nasty Nes. All you need is access to a computer and RealPlayer to be able to hear these shows.
Peace, J.T. The Brown-Eyed Genie
